Randall A. Kavalier, D.O.

Randall Kavalier, D.O. is Board Certified in General Psychiatry as well as Child and Adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Kavalier is a graduate of the University of Osteopathic Medicine here in Des Moines, Iowa. He continued his medical training at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri where he successfully completed his Pediatric Residency. Dr. Kavalier completed his General Psychiatry Residency and Child Psychiatry Fellowship at the Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas before entering private practice in 1991.

Through the years Dr. Kavalier has treated patients of all ages but concentrates his practice with children and adolescents without regard to specific diagnoses or disorders. His experience in treating children and adolescents at all levels of care has given him the breadth and depth of knowledge that are essential for effective teaching of psychiatric medication management options. He is a frequent speaker much in demand for his prescribing experience with psychiatric medications, particularly with children and adolescents.

He serves as the Consulting Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist for Polk County Youth Services. Dr. Kavalier is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the Iowa Psychiatric Society and the Iowa Medical Society.
